History of ROTC: When Did It Begin?

ROTC, or the Reserve Officers' Training Corps, began in the United States in 1916 with the signing of the National Defense Act. This initiative aimed to train college students for military service while pursuing their education. It has since evolved into a prominent program across universities nationwide, promoting leadership and civic responsibility.
