Marie Maynard Daly: Trailblazer in Biochemistry

Marie Maynard Daly was the first African American woman to earn a Ph.D. in chemistry in the United States. Graduating from Columbia University in 1947, her groundbreaking research focused on the relationship between cholesterol, hypertension, and heart health. Daly was a pioneer in biochemistry, breaking barriers for women of color in the sciences.
